Superhard materials and products are known as "the hardest and sharpest industrial teeth". Various material processing problems in the fields of aerospace, national defense and military industry, as well as photovoltaic and electronic information industry have been smoothly solved with the help of superhard material synthetic diamonds.

In the eyes of scientists, single crystal diamond is not only "industrial teeth", but also the "ultimate semiconductor". At a symposium on the development of China's superhard materials industry held on July, some experts even said that " There is no information industry without diamonds ". As a new material, superhard material leads the development of high-end manufacturing industry in China.

By the end of 2017, China's output of synthetic diamonds has accounted for more than 90% of the world's total production, and the output of cubic boron nitride (CBN) has accounted for more than 70% of the world's total production. As an important and unique part in the field of new materials, superhard materials have been widely used in the construction of national economy.

"All the known materials in the world can be processed by using superhard mechanical properties of diamonds." A senior advisor from Superhard Materials Branch of China Machine Tool & Tool Builders' Association (CMTBA), told reporters: It can be used for astronaut cosmic rays protection, cutting-edge weaponry anticorrosive, improving missile flight speed and attacking precision, high-power laser detection, large scale integrated circuit, new LED light source and other high-tech top-end fields."

Some mobile phones get hot when used, and will stop working at high temperature, which is because their semiconductor components don't withstand high temperature. The single crystal diamonds that combine electrical, optical, mechanical, acoustic and thermal properties, will solve this problem.

Compared with other semiconductor devices, diamond electronic devices have advantages of small size, high integration and no refrigeration. Experts believe that diamonds will trigger new semiconductor technology revolution.

" Superhard materials are indispensable high-function materials in strategic emerging industries such as petroleum exploration and mining, machine tool machinery, automobile manufacturing, rail transit, nuclear power, national defense and military industry, aerospace engineering, photovoltaic and electronic information industry."

By the end of 2017, China's output of synthetic diamonds has accounted for more than 90% of the world's total production, and the output of cubic boron nitride (CBN) has accounted for more than 70% of the world's total production. China has become a veritable superhard material manufacturing power. Although the product quality technology of superhard materials has reached the world's advanced level, there are still some deficiencies in some high-end industries.

However, China's synthetic diamonds have the absolute advantages in the world, which is closely related to the industrialization of large-scale synthetic diamond press, high quality hard alloy anvil, powder catalyst and indirect heating technology (powder technology) developed by ourselves. Large-scale synthetic diamond press is the core equipment of manufacturing synthetic diamonds. It needs to create a high temperature (> 1400 ℃), high pressure (>5GPa) synthetic cavity, and make carbon atoms form stable diamond crystals in this cavity.
